Mail Update - No. 4December 31st, 2001

As the flames of 2001 subside to a glow of incandescent embers, Fflint Central would like to thank everyone for supporting us during the past 12 months.  Although our operation is still a very modest one, your kind words (and cash !) have kept our enthusiasm and excitement going more strongly than ever.  If the sounds have given you lot even a fraction as much enjoyment in the listening as we had in the creating and producing, then we've succeeded in our goal.  In particular, we'd like to shower endless praise and gratitude onto Andee Connors and Aquarius Records for their unswerving work in promoting and selling the FfC catalogue in the US and beyond.  We're still very humbled by it all.

Still in the US, what can we say about WFMU?  Thanks to Brian Turner, Scott Williams, Fabio Roberti and many others, the sound of Fflint Central has been scuttling through the airwaves around New Jersey for most of the year.  Totally amazing and beyond our wildest dreams.  Even better, we got to hear the broadcasts here in Blighty, thanks to the WFMU internet audio streams.

Then there are those splendid chaps whose reviews in various electronic and paper magazines have done so much to point people to our website and music:  Dave W. Hughes (Modern Dance), Graeme Rowland (Cracked Machine and Brainwashed) and Andi Chapple (Flux Magazine).

Quite a few of the opinions quoted on the website came from fellow creators via mp3.com: thanks guys - it's nice to be appreciated by fellow experimentors and electronicists.

Lastly, but not leastly, a hearty 'ta very much' goes to the  Manchester 'Underground' for providing live events around the city, especially Rotations, Centro and Star & Garter.  Hats off to Gareth Bibby, Dan Weaver and Graeme Rowland.  Thanks to these guys, Tim has managed to expose himself to the public a number of times in 2001........Also thanks to Arlo for steadfastly manning the 'record stall' at many of these gigs.

THE WEBSITE

After a gentle reminder from Mr Bibby, the 2002 Fflint Central Calendar is now available for free download.  This time it's turned through 90 degrees, but rest assured is still laden (leaden?) with pithy aphorisms and swoopy sleeve art - go get it!

NEW RELEASES

At the end of November, the debut ep from Cousin Silas was released.  Seven tracks of varied textures and sonorities from deepest Yorkshire:

Lilliput

View from a Room
Moorgate
Warlock Hill
Setting the Clinch
Lilliput
Garden of Pale Children
Chamber 7 Vat 3

Expect more from this shadowy performer in 2002.

FORTHCOMING

Berkowitz Lake & Dahmer recently sent us an 8-track cartridge of material, which is currently being compiled into a new album for release very soon.  Hold your gonads!

Fflint Central wishes everyone a spicy and chewy New Year.
