Update - No. 12, August
9th, 2003 |
|
With sweaty fingers sticking to molten keys amid the British heatwave, it's time to contact the faithful with another update. THE
WEBSITE
There's a new page on
FfCWeb, a receptacle for all Fflint Central musics released on other
labels. This is a humbling development for a humble label, but we're very
proud to tell all that there are two new compilation albums,
each containing a track from our pals BERKOWITZ LAKE &
DAHMER and a VHS videotape documentary from Belgium which
has a fragment of PENDRO on its
soundtrack..........
RELEASES
If you cast your troubled minds back to Update No.
9 , you'll recall that a Belgian company, Charleroi Danses,
requested if they could use a PENDRO track
'Restless Crescent' as part of the soundtrack
for their new show called 'Body/Work/Leisure'. Having
successfully toured throughout Europe, a film maker (Ludovica
Riccardi) produced a 'behind the scenes' documentary about the making
of 'Body/Work/Leisure'. This was released by WatchTV in May and fortunately includes
a segment featuring 'Restless Crescent'. Check
it out if you can't imagine how it's possible to dance to Fflint
Central.
The Miscreant Trio BERKOWITZ LAKE &
DAHMER may seem to have been idle, but they've been
surreptitiously infecting other labels with phonic contagions.
The fruits of two such labours have recently been released.
First, there's 'Discarded Patsy
Implant' on the DotDotDot Music compilation
'Grain', an amazing 99-track banquet of an album put together by
Brian O'Shaugnessy in
Ireland.
Then there's a compilation on Mental Monkey
Records of New York called 'My Malady'; a 33-track noisy
homage to disease and illness, including BLD's contribution
'Gangrene'. How can anyone
resist?
We expect more compilatory contributions to
follow.
The new full-length album from COUSIN
SILAS is nearly complete and will be ready to slake Silasian
thirsts in
September.
FfOPPISHNESS
If you happen to wander into one of the Fopp record stores around the UK, you may
come across BLD's opus 'Contraception of the
Gods'. Don't be afraid, just buy a copy for someone you
love....
Swelteringly
yours,
Barry
& Tim
